It's that time of year again as the weather starts to warm up a little. But we still want to make it to the great outdoors before the heat sets in. This year it's a little earlier than last year, and short notice but we hope you can still get out there.
As usual, we are going to Hidden Pond in Ocala National Forest. Come on down to this Primitive backwoods hike-in camping near a Spring Fed pond on the Florida Trail in Juniper Prairie. We like to go to past the first 2 camping clearings to the Piney woods in the back.
There are 3 ways to hike in from the North, West and South.
North- Parking at Pat's Island Trailhead, head South on the Florida Trail to Hidden Pond. ~3.5 miles
West- Parking at Hidden Pond Short, head East on the Short for about 2 miles until you hit the Florida Trail. Turn right(South) ~1/2 mile to the Pond.
South- Parking at Juniper Springs(Parking Fees for Springs), Head North on the Florida Trail ~5.5 miles to Hidden Pond.
From the North and West, when you get to Hidden Pond, turn right and go past the first camping area and into the 2nd. Go thru the second area into the back Piney woods.
From the South, when you get to Hidden Pond, go past the pond beach entrance and go left next to the pond then follow above directions.
Please enter your name, dates attending and where you're parking/time in case others may want to join the hike in. Hope to see yall there.
