Brookies & Bannock EGL Ice-out Hang

Algonquin Provincial Park's Lake Opeongo is a gateway to the central interior, wherein lie some of the nicest lakes & best fishing. Like any large lake, when the weather is against you it can be impassable. Combined with water temperatures that can induce fatal hypothermia in minutes, traversing the lake can be a stupidly dangerous gamble. Sounds like fun eh?

But there is a solution in the form of two water taxi services that will zip you up the lake for a reasonable fee: https://algonquinoutfitters.com/rent...go-water-taxi/
    and
    https://www.opeongooutfitters.com/taxi.html
They offer a flat rate and a per-person rate, so filling a boat will be most economical.

We'll be heading up to the Proulx Lake portage, an easy 1300 metre cartpath. Some may want to just hang at one of the nearby sites & skip the carry, while others can carry on to camp on Proulx or Little Crow.

Aiming for May 10-12 but some (like me) may wish to extend a day or two on either end. We'll work out those logistics over the next few months.

    See you on the trail.

The May 10-12 weekend works for me. It’s the only weekend I can go. I may join you KWK a day or two early.

Cool Booked 10th - 12th on Proulx Lake

I booked one site on Proulx from the 10th to the 12th (Friday and Saturday nights). Happy to add names to my permit if you're looking at the same dates.

I would like to come in on the Friday and leave on the Monday. Is anyone else doing the same? Just trying to coordinate a water taxi as they both have a minimum charge if $100.

So just to confirm this plan involves zero paddling but might include a hike? If so I am definitely interested.
I like metric, I use metric, for those of you who don't ... you should, for those of you who won't ... here.

It's early days yet, but I'm tentatively planning four nights, Wed-Sun.

Kasuko ... if you intend to simply camp on Opeongo near the portage to Proulx, then yes, no paddling. However it looks like most will carry on into Proulx to camp. If that appeals to you, some water travel would be needed.

    This map shows both options.

Most likely can make it. I’ll be coordinating with BigGreenMoose on logistics.
