    Hangcon 2024

I got back from Hangcon Saturday evening and really wish I could have stayed longer.

This year, I was finally able to make it to Hangcon. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay one evening 20240111_175435.jpg(sorry it was upside down)but it was an amazing time still. I met so many great people and a few great puppies too!! For those of you who may be a long ways away, here's how I did it and made it super fun.

Instead of flying with my backpack, I used a huge duffle bag that I could stuff everything in. After arriving at the airport and getting my car, I stopped by the closest walmart on the way to Hangcon and grabbed a gallon of water and a can of fuel for my stove. From Orlando it only takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to camp which has a really fun entrance. There was a staff member sitting at the beginning of the camp to give you directions which were super easy to follow. 20240112_151242.jpg20240112_151248.jpg

There are a ton of trees. Let me say that again, there are a ton of trees to hang from. I'm not sure how far camp goes, but there were a lot of hammocks up and it did not take me too long to find many suitable trees to hang from. 20240112_161911.jpgLove my new Superior Shelter from Superior Gear. It rained a lot Friday evening and I was super dry all night.

Once I was all set up, I went and visited all of the vendors that I could. 20240112_172503.jpg20240113_095359.jpg20240112_152037.jpg20240112_174013.jpg20240113_095357.jpg20240113_095440.jpg20240112_184016.jpg20240112_184335.jpg 20240112_175627.jpg I bought a few things from several of the vendors there including a new ground cloth from Walhalla Hammocks and a new hammock from Majestic Hammocks. The next morning was a super quick tear down, gave my half canister of fuel (it's only $5 at the store) and then a quick trip back to the airport.

If you have never been to Hangcon, I highly suggest the trip!!!!!!!!

RollTide, I'm sorry that you didn't have the same experience as I did. I for one didn't even realize that we were close to an interstate until the evening time. I was at a further site and definitely farther away than 100 yards from the interstate - more like half a mile or more. I tuned out the noise pretty quickly.

    Just my opinion

Well, thanks to Majestic Hammock owner Kory I have successfully built my own hammock supports inside my home.20240119_131503.jpg
Basically, it is a flange that I used a 3 1/2" bolt to go far into the studs, then a 90 degree elbow then an 18" pipe - repeated below as unlike the photo it hangs straight up and down. I have it going to the other side of the room with the same setup. Could totally use 24" or 36" pipes if you wanted. But this is super easy and only took a few minutes to put up.

Thanks Kory!! I love the majestic hammock and have already spent 3 nights in it this week!
