DIY fix for UQ vs investing in better product?

I have a super cheap, but effective 40 degree UQ with both head end and foot end suspension out of commission. I ordered some shock cord and two dutch clips hoping I could easily reconfigure as needed. The UQ itself (non cottage industry) droops in the middle, as it has no suspension system, other than the shock cords that attach to the gathered ends on head and foot. Try as I might, I can't seem to reconfigure it to "factory settings"
I am debating fixing or investing in something more light weight that has a temperature rating of 40 degrees.

Likely a good idea to include the type of hammock you are using and quilt dimensions. Maybe a pic of your quilt installation, otherwise you will be getting a lot of guesses.
