I'll be using my Haven Safari hammock again this hang with a slight modification this time around. I tried it at a hang before but the stock Haven pad, which is the main structure feature of the flat lay of this bridge hammock actually folded down the middle. This forced the sleeper into a taco-like position...very uncomfortable. There were a couple mods floating out there on YouTube to help with that but I never found them to work out for my comfort. So I hung up the Haven in the storage shed relegated to collect dust until I could hear of a new solution.

A couple weeks ago, I heard the call. Someone posted on here to try the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Topo Luxe XL pad, that it eliminated the "taco" effect and was the right size for the haven. I looked for it online, a bit pricey...but what the heck. I bought it.

Long story short - it fits the Haven perfectly, eliminated the taco effect. It's 4" thick with a R-4 rating, 30x77. Haven will be at the hang in use if anyone wants to see it again. Paired with a 20 degree Zenbivy sleeping system. Bonus - my 20 degree HG UQ I've used with every hammock I've owned was fitted to this Haven as well!

Temperatures might be mid 60’s highs
    And lows around 50
Too far out to get a good look at precipitation
But out of a four day span, I expect to see at least one day with rain, but if we get a rain shower, then we are really camping.

I am striving to bring a wide selection of toppings and burgers.
A good head count will help me ensure that there will be enough burger patties, toppings and buns.
There will be traditional toppings of mayonnaise ketchup and mustard, as well as more exotic items.

I’m still looking for club crackers, because if you’ve never had a club cracker stacked in with your burger toppings—you’ve never really had a hamburger.

If your burger is not the best you’ve ever had—it’s your fault, cause you get to construct your own creation.
There will be several gas grill stoves available for you to try your culinary skills. You might even luck out and someone gang cook a few burgers for you.
I can’t stand a burnt burger, and will be cooking mine in a nonstick pan with a spot of water and extra virgin olive oil and or bacon grease.

A hamburger is not a cheeseburger without sliced cheese. And there will be bacon and more bacon&cheese to top your burger.
Again I’ll cook my bacon in a pan and do my best not to burn my bacon.
Crispy bacon will be possible, but you will either cook it yourself or take what is there.
I’ll bring plenty of bacon. But it will need to be cooked.

    I am a vegetarian!
You’ve heard of ovo vegetarians-(eggs), lacto vegetarians-(milk&cheese), pesca vegetarians (allowing fish with vegetables&grains)

    I’m an ovo-lacto-pesca-beefo-porko vegetarian

There will be appetizers in a charcuterie board, hors d’oeuvres.
Deep in Uwharries it’s pronounced: horse doovers

Mixing mayonnaise and mustard on hamburger—
Automatic red neck, an aura that must be cultivated to be appreciated!

    NC Yates Hang Spring 2024 March 7 8 9 10

I am thankful to all our Forest Rangers for doing unpleasant tasks efficiently and safely.

Of the four campers that I photographed and showed Ranger at their office—-
All but one have left Yates.

The only one left is white pickup truck with white trailer parked in pullout where school bus turns around on their route.
Since then we have one more pickup truck and camper——but they will be legal about a week past time change weekend.

We thank all Rangers and Law Enforcement for all their efforts that sometimes go unnoticed!
    Thank You

Edit—All be kind to our stranded camper…who knows when any of us could be in same bind…feeling froggy as road kill in sunshine

I treated camping clothes with permethrin just to be ready…spring can happen anytime now
My booney hat will shed rain drops.
And I look forward to raising hand of winner
    “Purdy Boil” alcohol stove contest

    Past champions, if I’ve not forgotten any;
Peeeeetey, Deborah, Hickery, Bob, Roger McIntyre Gas&Matt, and yours truly, welcome you all to try your hand.

Remember safety first, no pressurized stoves, and only alcohol fuel is permitted.
We don’t want a replay of the time a nut set picnic table ablaze. Ahem…
