Welcome to the party! There are a few active hanging groups in the area including Tarheel State Hangers and NOVA (although they just had a hang not too long ago I think). See you at the next hang.

The Mt. Rogers winter hang at Grayson Highlands SP is coming up Jan. 18th-21st. If you're not outfitted for winter camping yet, you could still come up for a day visit to meet people and see other people's gear. There'll be a pot luck Saturday with plenty of food.

NoVA happens in November each year (you just missed it.) Chili Butt is the other Virginia hang not yet mentioned. It's in February each year at the same location as NoVA (in Prince William Forest). Unfortunately, the group campground we usually use is closed until Spring for utility work so not sure yet where the hang will be relocated this time. The John Rock hang and the various Yates hangs each year would actually be closer to you than NoVA or Chili Butt. They're in NC.
Dutch has a hammock hang event calendar on his website (https://dutchwaregear.com/hammock-hang-events/) that shows a lot of hangs, but it's only as accurate as the input he gets, so might not be all inclusive. Most hangs will be posted in the Outings threads here on the forum.

Thanks! I’ll check out the Dutch calendar. I’m planning on being at the Mt. Roger’s hang for Saturday and Sunday.
