    Additional Tie Outs

Does anyone have any ideas where I could find something that is not permanent that I can use to attach an additional guy line to my tarp? I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen them. But, don’t remember where.

Search for "tarp clips" in your browser. Lots of varieties. Lots of vendors (including the usual suspects).

You can also use the "acorn" or "pebble" method if you don't want to buy and carry more hardware.
This video demonstrates this method clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VrKhPUeI7Y

caution: another method is to use a bottle cap and the cut-off top of the bottle... put the tarp over the threads and thread the cap on over the tarp. use caution with this though, I've done this with soda bottles and it ruined the tarp. unfortunately the tarp was already torn when I did it so I didn't care so much. however it also didn't last very long. Turns out, any tears in xenon will run for the other side with very little effort. Personally I would advise against using Xenon at all just because of this. seriously I'm averaging a tarp per year. 2020 I lost both my main tarp to a falling branch AND my backup tarp to a strong gust of wind, and I couldn't get any replacements due to nobody making anything with covid. I managed to patch it together but it definitely wasn't pretty. finally got a replacement, then this winter I was ducking under and my coat snaged on one of the internal poles and it tore from the edge up to the middle and then about 6 inches perpendicular I was able to tape it up and it lasted to February when I had to give up on it and go get a utility tarp from Harbor Freight

Watch out for those little tarp clips too. they have small “teeth” that garb the material. I like the pebble/marble/acron (without a point - maybe I’m thinking of another nut) method the best.

cougarmeat is correct in that many of the tarp clip styles do have teeth. Some (like alligator clips) are very sharp and pointy. Others have teeth that are really more like ridges than teeth, aren't very sharp, and likely won't cause any damage. And some tarp clips don't have any teeth at all. For example, EasyKlips ( https://www.easyklip.com/products/ta...ini-tarp-clip/ ) makes a tension tarp clip that has no teeth and stays locked just with the tension on the clip. I use these occasionally for hanging a bottle holder or storage pocket from the side of my hammock and have never had any issues with the fabric getting damaged.

PopcornFool, that’s a great clip reference. I’ve added it to my Vendor folder. Thank you.
