Would like to remind everyone about the raffle we have on Saturday. If you have any used or unwanted gear or goodies to throw in. Tickets are $5. or 5 for $20. Proceeds offset the cost of firewood and port o john. The remaining is donated to The Friends of GHSP.

I hate to, but I am having to back out. I haven't missed this hang ever since I started with HF. I have some family obligations that just popped up. MAN! I love this hang but guess I better be a good husband and dad. I'll miss y'all. Hope y'all have a great time! See y'all on another one though. Maybe my boys and I can hang out behind our house and pretend we are with you. It's gonna be in the single digits here so we would have that going for us.

You need to figure out the chimney and burn in the stove and chimney. The heat sets the metal in the chimney. This also burns off any coatings on the stove.

I’m seeing a low of 6 degrees for Sat night. This trip could be breaking record cold for my kit.

Phantom do you reckon it might be so cold the fire freezes?

I'm bringing every quilt I have including 2 Costco down throws and a 30 deg sleeping bag. I have 0 deg quilts but I'm going to double up anyway.

I'll probably sling my 40 deg shorty under the 0 deg. I may hang the throws over the ridgeline or maybe the sleeping bag.

I'm not so worried about sleeping as I am about up and about during the day. Saturday is going to be cold and WINDY.

In fact it may get so cold we may see a politician with his hands in his own pockets

Yep, hanging around during the day has been my main issue staying warm.
In cold weather camping near the cars, I always did what a lot you do, having a large tote beside the hammock to add, take off extra quilts, coat and such.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
