Hey everyone. Hope you all are well. I have not done any hiking in a few years since my knees just won't allow it anymore. I had to move on to moto-camping on 2 wheels. If there is no call for bad weather next year and the camp spot is conducive to motorcycles, I will try to make it. My knees could handle a light 1 mile day hike with no heavy pack on my back.
-20 - Thank you for sending the PM my way as a heads up. I hope you all enjoy the trip!
We’ve gotten around 6-7 of snow so far around the KC area, what’s it like down south?
We might get an inch by the time it all pushes through. Looks like more coming this weekend though. Should be a great weekend for the FBH!
Great weekend for the FBH indeed! However... as much as I was looking forward to the frigid temps they are predicting for this weekend, as Br@nch noted above, the evolving forecast now calls for another rain/snow event to roll through on Friday. I'm wondering if this may end up forcing some previously-committed folks to cancel. What do you all think? Is it time to consider postponing this year's FBH? Should we wait another 24-48 hours to see if the chance of hazardous road conditions is reduced before tinkering with the schedule? Please post your opinions here in the thread. Looking forward to seeing y'all !!!

Pushing it back a week would probably be the safer bet as far as road conditions go.
Looks like it’s gonna dump a bunch more snow up here on Friday, so I might have to spend Friday afternoon digging out my driveway again just to get out.
Its still supposed to be plenty cold the next weekend, so pushing it back a week has my vote.
I'm ok with either weekend. Makes sense to push it off if the weather and roads are too bad.
With a potential winter storm forecasted, I agree that moving the date forward one week is best. The combination of falling temperatures and precipitation may produce freezing rain, making road travel dangerous with possible stranded vehicles.
I vote for a one-week delay as well.
Br@nch, our campsite at Pine Circle Campground, has easy 2-wheel access, and some, if not all, will also camp there Saturday night. Two years ago, we had permission to camp atop Stegall Mountain the second night even though it is a natural area where camping is prohibited. I plan to hike up to Stegall Mountain on Saturday but will return to the campground.
This year despite a number of calls and phone messages, we do not have approval to camp on Stegall Mountain. Backpackers camp there despite the prohibition, but getting official approval is tricky. Two years ago, I offered some assurances of protecting the area, so they allowed our small group to camp there. Individuals can choose their Saturday campsite, but I will remain at the campground.

I'm new to ya'll so my vote shouldn't count for much..... having said that I'd vote for moving it to another weekend. Glad I'm not the only one thinking about the weather and having second thoughts.
It appears to be unanimous, so January 19th is the date. Same plan just one week delay.
