Hello! I am a relatively new hammock camper and I am Scout leader for my two sons. I tried hammock camping at the suggestion of my cousin who talked about how comfortable the hammock is compared to a cot and pad. I'm always one to collect new treasures so I bought the same set up he had, a Kammok Mantis. I love how easy the set up is, but I have recently decided to change the tarps. I have never gotten wet (despite several opportunities) with the Kammok tarp, but I wanted something bigger and something with doors to possibly add a little bit more privacy. I am awaiting its arrival, so I haven't had a chance to try out the new stuff. I've been on a handful of Scout camping trips with the hammock and I am definitely in love with how comfortable it is. I upgraded the lightweight UQ I got off of Amazon to a much nicer one, and it made a world of difference. Anyways, I am excited to learn more about ways I can speed up or diversify my set up for different scenarios. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the rabbit hole. If you have the time, go to some hammock gatherings. There is a great group of people that hang out on a regular basis in S.C., Palmetto State Hangers and there is a huge event coming up in central Florida, Hangcon. Another great resource of information are Shugs videos on youtube.
