Florida: Last hang of the year at Hidden Pond ONF

For the last few years I have hiked solo into Hidden Pond and spend the last week of the year there. Traditionally the day after Christmas to New Year Eve Day. For me it's a time of reflection, reading and relaxing. This year I thought I would open it up to anyone that would like to join in. I plan to hike in from Pats Island Trail head sometime before noon on the 26th.

Fairly basic. Oatmeal and coffee in the morning, trail pizza or a peanut butter, granola tortilla wrap for lunch and freeze dried meals for dinner.

Don't forget the fire in the area this Summer. Best be prepared for anything.

dwighop- The food is mainly any hiker food you want since it's several miles to hike in depending on the direction you want to come in from. Or, you could make pizza there like LifeScout likes to do.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Just went out yesterday. The pond is safe. Burnt to the edge on the West side but already growing back. Our spot was untouched. I will try to make it out. Even for 1 night if not 2. Of course I'll know better that week.

Paul, we're both coming out most likely Friday. If not, then Saturday.

I was there Tues - Thurs but the weather turned nasty and a squirrel ate my spoon plus it was starting to get crowded so I bailed after 3 days. Enjoy your time in the woods.
