    Lash-it vs Zing It

Is there a difference between Lash-it and Zing It?
Or are they both very similar, except have different brand names?
I’m about to order some cord in 2.2 diameter.
I think the 1.75 diameter is better for hardware, and 2.2 is better for knots.

    Thanks for your help!

Here's a link to Samson's page and the differences they describe between the two:

HillbillyHanger, thanks for your help. I do not have a desktop computer, just an IPhone. Either more information is not available by IPhone, or I’m not tech savvy enough to access what is available.

Still looking for someone to post here, what is difference between lash-it and Zing It, both 2.2 diameter.

Thanks again, I called Dutchwaregear, and did not get a return call. So I ordered lash-it from Amazon.

If lash-it works for me, then I’ll be done…for a while.

Would still like to know the differences.
    Thanks!

I always just thought it was the color, but the link indicates that zing-it has a slicker coating for arborists to throw it over branches. Sounds like lash-it is what I need as it hold knots better. Learn something everyday. The link says that they are both available in yellow and gray as well as in 1.75 and 2.2. I guess that their names make more sense than I gave them credit for.

I have used and spliced both a bunch, and I don't think they're different enough from one another to matter a great deal for use as guylines or ridgelines. They both have the Samthane coating, but I believe Zing-It has a little more of it. After a while of usage, the waxy feel of the coating starts to reduce.

Gray and Yellow are available in both diameters, while there are more colors available in 1.75mm. I don't know for sure, but I suspect these are all Samson products, as Dutchware is an official distributor.

Phantom, if your usage will be focused on knots, I would highly recommend Lawson cordage - Guywire, Glowire, or Ironwire. Guywire and Glowire are essentially the same, but the former lacks reflective tracers. Ironwire has a Dyneema core, so is stronger than the other types, but all are plenty strong for tarp applications. This stuff knots like a dream. The 2mm and 2.5mm versions also work well in Lineloc 3 hardware.

FWIW - the 2.2 is far more easy to splice. I primarily work with the 1.75 because it’s more compact when I roll it and stuff it for ridgelines or guy lines. But my hands take a bit of a beating after working a splicing fid through the smaller diameter core.

Since you can't see it on your phone, Phantom, I've cut and pasted the information from the Samsung website found at the link that HIllbillyHanger provided (see below). Hopefully you can read this.

    PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

    LASH-IT AND ZING-IT

Lash-It! yields the highest strength, lightest weight, lowest stretch, and longest wear life available. The Samthane coating adds to the twine's wear life, ensures its knot-holding capability, and gives it a distinctive gray or yellow color.

Zing-It! offers extremely high strength while Samthane urethane coating provides excellent abrasion resistance and an easy gliding surface. The exceptional low stretch allows for control, and Zing-It! is conveniently packaged to achieve higher throws with lighter weight.

    FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
    > Abrasion resistant
    > High strength-to-weight ratio
    > Lightweight
    > Low friction, slides well
    > Low stretch
    > Samthane coated

    APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
    > Accessory or Rope Tool

    PRODUCT CODE: 811
    FIBER: HMPE

    1.75...............................230
    2.2.................................290

They don't have separate pages for the two products. And they don't have separate specs (same specs apply to both). Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any difference between the two.

It's subtle but to me ZingIt seems a tad slipperier than LashIt.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
