    Here is what is in the Header of the page (via FireFox):
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO=8859-1">

    Note this from ChatGPT:
    When your web page is designed to serve these special characters encoded in Unicode (e.g. UTF-8), and the server provides the page data to a client expecting ASCII or ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1), the special characters may not render correctly.

    That appears to be exactly what is happening.

    On my screen, cmoulder's 30 degrees displays the number 30, an A with a circumflex, then the degree symbol, and finally the F.

    Below the profile data on the left of the post, the last line says. "Promote to Article" and shows several A+circumflex characters.

    Maybe some future update - Apple's, the web browsers, the website, etc. will straighten things out and it will go back to the proper display.

    Just something I am living with now. Later, I'll spend more time searching, "Why isn't the website encoding displaying properly?"

    Note that I'm not saying the website is at fault. It's just what many of the "whys" were pointing at.

    If I didn't change anything and the website didn't change anything then it might have been a "gift" from the latest Apple Update - in which case there is nothing that can be done at this time.

    What is interesting is how the text changes from what I enter when I type a reply and how it's displayed when it's posted. For example, in the above, I typed a capital A with a circumflex but when it displays posted, the circumflex has been changed to a tilde. So who/what is making that change? And every time I edit a post, that had an initial A with a circumflex it morphs into something else, and more characters are added.

    I wonder if the pound symbol (£) in the post below is exhibiting the same sort of issue, or if it's just coincidence/typo..?

    I changed the encoding on Safari to UTF-8 and it seemed to fix the issue for that browser. My main browser, Brave, does not have that encoding option - you can only pick a language (English, Italian, French, etc).

    I have posted this problems in the Brave community support forum. I may go back to Opera Browser or something more mainstream, like Safari.

    Just a test with Grammerly turned off. °
    Nope, the leading circumflex  - which is changed to a tilde A when I post - is still added in front of the degree symbol.

    LowTech, are you saying you see ONLY the degree symbol and not that extra circumflex A in front of it? And in post #3, you don't see all those characters that grew and grew as the post was edited?
