Reintroducing myself (and moving to NC)

Hello, I'm reintroducing myself here! Been in Brooklyn NY for ~ 20 years and moving back to my hometown Raleigh NC in a couple weeks. This should give me plenty more opportunity to hang!

I started with a Blackbird XLC setup but thew in the towel on GE hammocks pretty quickly. Just got a Haven XL and looking forward to trying that out. I'm a rotisserie / side / stomach sleeper.

Anyhow. I'll be putting the WB xlc setup on the market when I get enough posts here (50?). Hope you are all having a nice week!

    Matt

On your issues with the GE hammocks, I had similar ones but I found it was the single direction lay. Since switching to a symmetrical, I have a better experience. Haven't tried a bridge style hammock...yet.

Oh that's interesting. I can see how you can move around more in a symmetrical. I like to move around. I shouldn't say I gave up on GE hammocks. Definitely will try another again. The blsckbird xlc just didn't suit me. Had a lot of calf ridge that I couldn't resolve. I blame my position / body type / lack of knowledge experience. The Haven is different animal and obviously doesn't pack well. But I'll be using it mostly on moto / car camping.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Sym.

Oh, I have a WB Eldorado...its the XLC minus the shelf. I had the same calf ridge issue. The problem I had was that I hung it they same way I did my original DW Half Zip. It was std lay only, so I got the Eldorado to flip the bugnet and try reverse lay...the WB hammocks foot end needs to be higher than the DW hammock.

After getting that all figured out, thats when I found that my real issue is I'm flip-flopper...I'll switch lay directions throughout the night. So, I picked up a Chameleon with a symmetrical bugnet. The current model DW Half Zip is symmetrical.

In the WB hammock, you're higher up on the head end. Your outside shoulder should be where the zippers meet on the bugnet. In the DW hammocks, I found my body was further down from the head end.
