    I suppose the lifespan of a quilt can be subjective to many of the things that have been discussed in this thread. I have known down quilts to have extensive use over a 20-year period and still being pretty good shape. However, those older quilts tended to use a lower fill power down because higher fill Powers just weren't available historically. I honestly couldn't say what to expect from a quilt that has been slept in almost 2,000 times. Honestly, I would be interested in taking a look at it for research purposes. Feel free to reach out to me at my personal email. [email protected].

    I'm in the same situation with a 40° Burrow top quilt the same age, Mid 2018. Used a lot outdoors but is on a bed most nights since. Most of the down has migrated to the outer perimeter. No amount of fluffing seems to help.
    It has not received any recent cleaning other than damp wiping by hand and air drying. The fabric seems to be in decent condition. Image is top quilt hanging in front of a quilt Xray machine (my window.)
    Is injecting more down a possibility or is it time to move on?

    @Muddy Creek,

    Fascinating pictures. So you cant move that down up from the bottom of the bag? Is that correct? Now I am curious. Hopefully someone on here has an answer to how that occurs and maybe a good solution for it.

    Good luck.

    The picture above was the top quilt hanging upside down, with the foot box at the top. At the bottom of the picture (head end) it looks like a lot of down but actually the window just wasn't tall enough to let light through. There is also a single horizontal channel at that end. Here's another picture raised higher showing the head end. (The foot box end looks darker because it is bunched up.)

    Hey there Muddy Creek,

    Definitely no need to move on. All the down is there, it just needs to be coaxed back into the right place. Here is a diagram of the open areas that are used when we are stuffing the quilt. These open channels can be used to move down into areas where some people find themselves needing more insulation. Unfortunately, the down can sometimes find these areas and migrate into these places when it isn't needed. With a little patience you can locate the dense areas of goose down and sort of Pat the quilt through these channels and back into the desired Chambers. You also have the option of sending it to us and we can do it for you.

    Thanks for that road map! I'll summon up all the patience I can and give it a try! I have time now that the 0° Burrow is out and ready to roll.

    Thanks again!
