    Heming Frog Togg UL pants

I got a Frog Togg UL jacket and pants recently.
The pants are too long and need to be taken up several inches.
What I'm wondering about is will the cut fabric fray or will the coating keep together?

Of course, when I cut into the fabric, I will see. Just wondering if anyone else here had done that.

Also, to make a sharp crease at the fold, I'm wondering if I should just press it hard or maybe use an iron on low heat with a cloth in-between.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I hemmed my Frogg Togg pants several years ago and haven't had any problems. However, I only wear them (at most) a couple or three of times a year, so YMMV. I didn't cut them, I just folded a couple of times and sewed through the whole thing. I did use an iron on low heat with a towel in-between for the new crease. I was careful, and it seemed to work okay.

Some years back I cut and sewed up a pair of the Frog Togg pants to make a rain skirt. I wasn't nearly as precise as PopcornFool was but mine held up fine, no fraying or other problems. The layered/coated fabric holds together pretty well in my experience, though it eventually wets out like any other "waterproof" fabric.

I folded them over (no cutting) and used velcro strips. No fuss, no muss. Been working great for a number of years. Of course I don't get to use them very often.

I used to cut the legs off Frogg Toggs pants and make waterproof gear bags out of them, because I only ever wore the jacket. I beat the heck out of those things, handsewn seams with a drawstring at the thigh end, and I don't remember any of them every fraying. Fuzzing up over a year or so of use, but not coming apart.
