    suspended cot

Weird question of the day. Has anyone tried to suspend a cot? I was just curious because it can be a lot cheaper than bridge hammock and then when you have to be in a tent because of rules you still have that to maintain comfort. It seems like the physics would work if you lashed the corners or ran climbing rope through the sides and then tied to 2 spots on a tree strap. Kind of like making a rope bridge. Which could cost under $100 to do.

Let us know, how this works for you. The suspense is killing me.
All joking aside, the cot might not be constructed to be able to handle downward pressure when tied between two trees.
Maybe it will work. I don’t know.

I believe, you would be better off getting a bridge hammock, without experimenting on a cot.

I would think that your center of gravity would be too high in relation to the attachment points. It would probably be very unstable and prone to dumping you out. But, that is just a guess.

Not trying to be a Negative Ned, but I'm not sure I see the point. We hang to get off the ground. A cot already takes you off the ground. If you are going to use a cot to get off the ground instead of a hammock, why not just sleep on it the way it was designed? I don't understand what advantage is gained by attempting to hang it. What am I missing here?

Not to pile on, but I agree with Popcorn Fool - a cot sure seems like a poor attempt at a bridge hammock. A cot is not remotely designed to be a hammock, and it probably won't work out well. Have you thought about using 1/4 inch plywood as a bridge hammock?

It was more of a question. For those occasions you can not get a hammock up. You can still have the cot option. I do have the draumr and I love it. The thought came because I would like to be in the position of a traditional hammock. I was trying to re invent the wheel and not buy an expensive haven tent. I was trying to find something else.

Every advancement of mankind has been because someone said: What if I try this new way?!?!

Otherwise we’d still be scavenging scraps from a lions kill, and sleeping on ground under stars or under a tent!

Your curiosity and thinking out loud is a positive boost to all hammockers regardless if this idea pans out.
