    NC Uwharries backpack 2023 August 11 12 13

I use WeatherBug app with Troy location
The ten day forecast shows chance of rain

The hourly forecast shows zero chance of rain
EDIT 30% chance rain Sunday am

    Highs around 90
    Lows around 70

Weather forecast might change later in week
    Good so far

If it rains a bit, then we are really camping

    NC Uwharries backpack 2023 August 11 12 13

    Weather forecast changing
30% to 40% chance of rain during our hike Friday afternoon.

Edit: might not rain during hike, might rain later in evening or might not rain all weekend.

My booney hat will keep me high and dry…
As long as I stand tall…
Twistytee, if you golf, and would be so kind to hold your golf umbrella above my head in case of afternoon rain.

Some backpackers carry a small umbrella. And there are other umbrellas that are hands free!

No rain forecast all day Saturday and Sunday

I’ll make you a deal Phantom, I’ll hold the umbrella over your head and you can carry both of our packs.

I’m still shooting for 3pm arrival at Yates and will call you if weather or work delays my start.

I’ll be hiking up from Wood Run (want a little more hiking) Saturday am; I hope you can post something if you wind up with a location plan B. My recollection is that Fat Man’s Camp has better cell reception than Beech Camp (could hardly be worse). Have fun tomorrow night.

Good deal Twistytee, I’ll tie one pack on Lenny and one on Indy.
My doctor gave me bad blood test news
When I told her my joke:
I think it hurt her feelings

Phantom it’s all downhill from here on out

Great Doc, now I can coast down hill—I’m on easy street!

She was going to prescribe medications to make my blood better. I told her I would try to modify my menu and will think about walking more instead, to be less fat…

If I fail to improve, it will be a Darwin Award!

Pappy hope all goes well with her and the family. Prayers for sure. Will def miss your always captive stories, camping tips & know how plus since of humor.

PG - My schedule opened up a little bit. There could be a Moose sighting on the UT, fat man or fat beech campsite around that weekend LoL Will be nice to meet new ones and old acquaintances.
I'll let ya know Friday sometime Tks

Myself, Chappy joined up at Yates with PG and Tom tom. After TwisstyTee (Lenny & Indy) pulled in and park we started our hike in to FatMans camp off the UT where it crosses (The water not trail) Dutchman Creek. Myself and Chappy stayed one night and hiked out just before lunch.

It was great seeing everyone again, good camping area (man was it Hot Sat) and I will attempt to post a pic or two.
PG will have a great story (besides the other 50) to tell at Yates. We will call it " Another one bites the cheek" de-tales later
