Canada -> Central -> EGL late September Trip

Here’s a new thread for a late September trip. I’ve booked off Fri Sep 29 to Mon Oct 2. Sounds like lofty and Bubba have too.

I’m game to go back to Donald Lake but if anyone has any other suggestions, don’t be shy. I don’t necessarily want to be the organizer. Some of you might be able to go a few days earlier than I.

Are there some other places that the group hasn’t been for a while? Anyone familiar with Killarney?

    76highboy suggested the following locations.

    1. West Temagami
    2. Onaping Lake
    3. Biscotasing
    4. Algoma

My vote is for 1 or 2 as they are only 5-6 hours drive from Guelph (the centre of the universe, don’t you know). The others are 7 and 9 hours. Too far for me.

    Thoughts from others?

    I'm in.

For what it's worth I really enjoyed Donald Lake & would happily return.
If we do that (or somewhere in that vicinity) perhaps another pre-trip night at the Sportsman's Lodge is in order, nice way to kick off the trip.

I’ll bring the knife you left there last year.

Ok, we've got a date and at least 4 people in. Let's nail down a location. I need you all to vote and before I go away on vacation at the beginning of September. The one with a route, a destination and the most votes will be the winner. The options are:

    1. Donald Lake, West Temagami.
    2. Killarney, but I've never been to Killarney, so someone else will have to pick the route and destination.
    3. Onaping Lake. Again, I've never been there. 76highboy, can you plan the route and destination?

    1. I really enjoy Donald lake
Beautiful paddling and for the amount of hammocks we had there did well.

    2. Ive hiked Killarney and have to say the portages can be challenging. Lots of elevation change as well as the sites I've been on aren't always well suited for lots of hammocks. You can get a few but not sure if we can get as many as we need.

    3. I have no desire for opiongo Big lakes. I find very boring. Just open water
If we did venture Algonquin I enjoyed North tea. I would love to see the waterfalls.

More I think about it. I would love to go back to North tea. Last time I went it was just a quick overnight rainy night
Would love to spend a little more time exploring the area.

The Amable du Fond river was nice and only two short portages ( 65m and 255m)

I didn’t know about this thread. As much as I enjoyed Donald I’d rather go somewhere I’ve not been to or have not been to in a while. As I mentioned in the email I sent I was looking at Pen/Glydegale because it’s been a while since I’ve been to Pen and I’ve never been to Clydegale. North Tea is also one I’ve never been. I missed the last one to North Tea and would be interested in going there.
