Whet Newdell & I were up at REO's Rock this weekend installing a solar power system. Some maples already showing scarlet & orange! Bodes well for our trip.

Experimented with some naan pizzas which, while amazing, don't seem to fit the seasonal theme. So I've settled on fresh baked cornbread with hot maple syrup. My bride's secret recipe.

(In case you're wondering why we're paddling with planks, the paddles were forgotten )

I see you found a nice shady spot for those solar panels. They should stay cool there.

Nice pics. That pizza looks amazing although judging by Whet Newdell's face, I don't think that was oregeno!

A couple of questions if I may; would love to finally join you folks, and North Tea is in my to-do list for Algonquin.

    1) I would need to rent a canoe; I’ve dealt with Algonquin Outfitters before at other AP’s, but would prefer to not have to haul from Huntsville. Can anyone let me know how Voyageur and Northern rate if you’ve got personal experience with them? Google reviews seem less than reliable.

    2) looking to hopefully come up from Tue-Sat. I’m a less than stellar cook at the best of times, mostly relying on backpacking (ie. lightweight) hydrated meals/sides, but happy to try and contribute for the Thanksgiving meal! Suggestions welcome. Looking into renting a food barrel with the canoe, but might end up using one of my dry bags instead.

Give the Swift store in South River a call, it is right on your way in and they have better canoes than the Outfitters IMO.

Fantastic, thanks Brian. I didn’t realize they also did rentals, this is perfect.

I think I'm good from Friday evening to the 2nd.

The eastern-most island with the 2 sites would be my first choice.

Just heard on the news that El Niño is going to cause an early, cooler than normal fall. This bodes well for an early colour change. It would be awesome if it could match the colours we had on Pen Lake years ago.
