ViDEO: One Week Solo Canoe Trip BWCA..Superior Gear Starlight hammock

Had a right goodie of a solo trip for a week. The Superior Gear Starlight hammock, Superior Gear Tarp, Frankenquilt UQ and Hammock Gear TQ all gave me good long slumber.
Had a night on a point where the wind came up and I had to get out and scramble at 2 am to deal with it. Super high winds and sideways rain. Lucking I had SG under quilt protector in my pack but had never hooked it up. Tough doing that at 2 am in high winds and groggy mind. But I prevailed!! All of that drama is at the beginning of Part 3.
There was tragedy only a couple camps away from me on day 3. Lots of float planes and coming and going on the lake I was on. Then a helicopter dropped off a Zodiac raft with motor so I knew something bad had happened. Nature can be charming and cruel.
Had to improvise some canoe yoke repairs out there. Boy Scout training came to fruition.

    Great trip report Shug!

What a storm that appeared to be too! Was just talking to a friend earlier and mentioning how we havent really gotten a great big midwestern thunderstorm yet this summer, glad you got to experience and ride one out. Always enjoyed hunkering down through a storm in a hammock.

Really nice trip report/videos Shug. I feel for whomever it was that had the issue.

I think it was in part 3 you were talking about the trails and things you are thankful for; that really resonated with me. I struggle on some of my trips, usually about dusk/bedtime, thinking about what I should be at home doing, but at the same time very grateful that my family helps me get out to do these trips. I was fortunate enough growing up to have some Native American friends, who along with their families taught me a new respect for the land and everything in it. I think about those things a lot when I'm out on my trips.

The hairy bits nature throws at us (especially early in the morning when were still half asleep)...are the most memorable.

    Enjoyable getaway.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

Lots of talk about rain down here in the Cities. But early any other than the 4th of July. They have been way off. I think they have so much technology that they get so excited to put out the data. Then it is wrong. Just how I feel lately. Maybe it is AI~~ Seems to be all the rage these days.

Loved watching these! Might even be inspirational enough to try and get me out in a canoe up there in October.

It is a whole different ball game doing a canoe trip rather than a backpack trip. No shade on a lake!!!
