Hell Roaring Creek to Imogene Lake (Sawtooth Mountians)

I had the time to go on a quick overnighter in the Sawtooth Mountain range. I have been to Imogene lake before but not from Hell Roaring Creek. It is 18 miles in and out. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested! It was exactly what I needed…….quiet and solitude. I know everybody is different when it comes to solo trips but I can honestly say I have grown to enjoy them more than trips with other people. Like I said, if anyone gets the opportunity to do this I recommend doing it. It’s a great trail and very easy going. [AIMG][/AIMG]

    Magnificent! Thank you.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

Gorgeous. Would love to do some Western state trips myself when I can make that happen.

I've heard the black flies can be bad around Hell Roaring Lake. They certainly were a PITA when I hiked past Yellow Belly last summer. Did you have any problems with them on your trip?

Yes it was a great spot! Perfect for looking at the stars. Perfect weather to boot! I love the Sawtooths. I might be biased because I live in Idaho. But is has some AMAZING hiking trails in some of the most beautiful country you can lay eyes on. But to answer you question Hang Williams the black flys we’re not bad at all. The mosquitoes were bad but no flys. Thank goodness! Getting bit by mosquitoes is bad but flys can drive a man crazy lol.

Yeah, mosquitos I can put on a head net and ignore for the most part. Not the case with flies, so glad it wasn't a problem. That spot you picked looks so amazingly tranquil.

Maybe eventually I'll convince the wife to move to Idaho, the 2 months we spent there last summer were amazing. I love the Sawtooths, White Clouds, and Pioneer Mountains. There's a couple dozen more trips I'd love to do out there if I had infinite time.

If you do get the chance check out the BigHorn Crags as well. They are rugged but amazing as well. Ship Island Lake is way pretty!
