    I returned the SINGER | Heavy Duty 44S and ordered the 4452.
    Supposed to be here tomorrow.

    My thread injector chose me. A find of mine knew I was interested in getting a machine and gave me a Singer 404 is perfect shape. 65 years old and runs fantastic. We're both children of the 50's.

    I was about to caution against a "heavy duty" machine, but looked up the specs for yours and the presser foot has adjustable pressure, which is good. I have a "heavy duty" Singer from the '80s, and while it's nice being able to sew through multiple layers of denim with ease, sewing delicate fabrics is a PITA despite using all the tricks -- turns out the presser foot just mashes down too hard and is not adjustable, so no matter what I do the layers creep out of place.
