Here is SlingRings reply to my strength question. Note the rings are tested to 250 lbs but are rated much higher.

    ****************
The rings are all the same thickness (1/4 "). The smaller the ring, the higher the pull strength. Etching does not affect the strength, it is only in the very top surface of the rings. The average breaking load of the large 3.5" od rings (on a 1 " strap) is 1500 pounds. The smaller rings tend to go above 2500 pounds. Each ring is tested to 250 pounds before it leaves our facility.

Here is the SlingRings URL: https://www.slingrings.com/products.php

And here are some of their offerings:

The middle and rightmost rings are the sizes our cottage vendors used to carry. Maybe some still do but I didn't find any looking at my usual sites.

The SlingRings website gives sizes, colors, and safety ratings. The size's I've shown run $2.50 - $3.00 per ring.
