WNC-John Rock, Pisgah National Forest 13-16 July

OK boys and girls here it is.

You are invited to attend the John Rock Hang from 13-16 July in the beautiful Pisgah National Forest.

This event is a bring your own food and activities event. I will supply firewood and it will be conveniently in the bed of my pickup truck for anyone who can help bring wood to the campsite. Looking forward to seeing all the Hamock Hangers I have not seen in a while.

If you need instructions to the trailhead parking lot, I recommend doing a google search for the Pisgah Fish Hatchery or meet someone in the Walmart Parking Lot to follow. That’s the start of the adventure.

If you have not been to this area, well there is plenty to do, hiking, waterfalls, chilling, etc.

There is a stream that runs along the campsite so water is available, would recommend filtering.

Great event to check out our gear and share information about any new gear.

From the parking lot the hike is about 1.3 miles uphill to the site, some parts of the hike are hilly but take your time and you will be fine, if you need any help let one of us know so we can meet you are the parking lot.

Sorry no cell phone service once you get ½ mile into the Pisgah Forest. Would recommend stopping the Walmart Parking lot for your last call before entering the forest. I heard word that if you take the Cat back Loop trail to John Rock you can get reception, I had no luck with AT+T.

You can expect an afternoon or early evening shower or maybe a thunderstorm so be prepared. This is not car camping but not wilderness camping either.

Once again this will not be a hosted event by Foxpoop or Myself. We will just make the best of it as always.

    See you soon.

WNC-John Rock, Pisgah National Forest 13-16 July

Thank you thank you thank you Tacoma and Foxpoop.
    Great video Loki, perfect!

John Rock is my favorite hang!

If you download trail on navigation app, at home with WiFi, then bring it up while in town, then when you are in parking lot with no cell phone service, your phone navigation app (All Trails Pro or Plus) will still show your exact location at all times—even without cell reception.

Be sure to start at end of parking lot nearest dumpster and park buildings—not sure if any of that is still there
There is also an entrance at other end of parking lot for Cat Gap Loop—don’t take that entrance, and don’t ask me how I know…

Now bring up your trail map app that you previously downloaded at home with WIFi and also made sure it is on your screen while still in town.
You will notice Cat Gap Loop is a circular trail with two ways to go—the long way and short way.
Your path should be in a counterclockwise direction on the “circular” loop.

It’s been a while, I gotta get back in swing of things till I get the hang of it. As I’ve not had a single drop of coffee or told any questionable stories in 90 days.

It’ll be great to see y’all!

Edit in reference to post #5 hahaha Lol, I know you right. I couldn’t help laughing from memories.

It’s scheduled for July iceman, unless your postponing Father’s Day for a month…
