Newbie Old Guy from NC

Hi all,
I am Kevin, I am from NC and am making the jump from tents to hammocks. Honestly I have been reading the forums and watching all you guys on youtube for years with my father but finally joined up so I can get in on the conversation with everyone.

Hello from just northeast of you, and welcome to the forums. There are often group hangs down in the Uwharries, so hopefully you'll be able to join one and meet some local yokels. There are a ton of hammockers in the area and it's a good group of folks that welcome new folks into the hammock community.

Hammock Forums has posts of car camping hangs and backpacking hangs in your area.
You are welcome to all posted hangs.
You will meet great hammock campers
You will get to see all kinds of hammocks, tarps, suspensions, insulation and hardware

For car camping, bring your camp chair. And read pertinent posts. Car camping hangs might have 20 to 60 hammock campers.

Backpacking hangs might have between two and a dozen campers. All are invited, but only a few of us carry our packs into wilderness

There is usually something posted about every month year round. Some backpacking hangs are on short notice (the Sunday before the following weekend) Don’t worry, if you miss one, you might get the next one.

Most everyone drinks coffee or tea. Some imbibe stronger brews during happy hour.

You are in a good place to strike out to many great hammock destinations. I used to go to statesville every second week for several years, years ago, and what a great part of the universe it is if one is interested in wonderful trails.

I hope to see you on an upcoming hang. It's always a good learning experience, and well, just plain old fun. I head that telling taller versions of tall tales is near mandatory.
