Waterproof won't breathe as well. Could add some condensation on the inside against UQ. Dutchware sells ones made of Argon. Water repellant.
Easy enough project to make yourself. TwoSpeed Hammocks might make you one....https://www.etsy.com/shop/TwoSpeedHa...about-shopname

I have one made by Dutch... lightweight and works perfect. As Shug said, easy enough to make.

Simply Light Designs makes a good one, though the product name on his site is close to that of his UQ that is built onto an UQP (trail winder). For my bridge hammock, I have a grommeted nylon poncho that works fine. It doesn’t hang tight enough to cause condensation issues.

Back when 2QZQ was independent, they offered UQP's in breathable or unbreathable material. Now that they are with Dutchware, you may have the same option. Because of condensation issues, I'd stay with a breathable fabric. The UQP is not your first line of defense against the rain. Hanging below the UQ, the UQP will keep incidental raindrops, that find their way under the trap, off the UQ.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Thanks. been pouring here since yesterday and has not stopped. Significant wind, tarp is as low to the ground as possible. Slept fine in the hammock but this morn the UQ protector has "wetted out" on the bottom dampening my new down UQ https://wlos.com/weather/maps

Im thinking a sil poly UQ protector might be the ticket so long as its loose enough to stay off the UQ?
