I’m getting antsy to get out more. The snow this year was pretty deep and late. I really need to get over my aversion to winter camping. Anyway, Drift Creek Wilderness is pretty close to where I live, and while small in size, beautiful if you like a dense temperate rainforest.
4.5miles and 1700’ elevation makes for a quick trip. The unfortunate thing with Drift Creek is it is just an out and back as the wilderness area is pretty small. Though I can leave work at three and be back by noon the next day if I get up reasonably early. Which I didn’t on this trip as I accidentally slept till nine. Which felt great.
Trail in was in decent shape. A lot of blow down but nothing that required me to deviate to far from the trail. Just some scrambling.

The camping in here can be a little tricky as the trees near the creek are super dense and generally small. Though there are some really nice spots in there. Especially if you are solo.
