Thanks. Well I always, for years used no hipbelt. I would always use my Gossamer Gear Hilpster or Bumster. Always worked just fine. Sometimes I would use shoulder pockets or water bottle shoulder pockets, but they really have a tendency to annoy the heck out of me. It drives me crazy having them right in front of me protruding out even so slightly.. Under my view. I still use them, just to carry my in reach mini or a cloth rag.. Sometimes I will carry a small water bottle with wide mouth for my nun tabs or my ice coffee or a pre-workout drink.. Though it drives me nuts, I deal. I finally decided to ditch the bumster hip pack and try hip belt with pockets.. I don't pack much in them. One side has my tiny first aid/emergency kit and the other carries snack or a bar. Not really much in em but I like that when I am in camp or in my bivy, under my small tarp, everything is together and less I have to look for. Its all together right there.

Awesome you had your kids on the hike with you. I took my kids out whenever I could when they were younger. Now they have kids of their own and very busy with life. I miss them but hopefully ol papa (me) can do some with my grandkids before they have to carry me (ha)

Lol.. busy with life.. yes understandable.. you should try to get them back out there with you.. that is LIFE.. the wilderness!! Try.. even if its a simple car camping overnight trip, maybe that will rekindle the fire in them??
