Some of the big box stores carry the all-encompassing bug nets for 20 or 30 dollars, not a bad option in a pinch, and cool as a Summer breeze.

I was hounded by mosquitoes while in the hammock this past Sunday. I picked up a Thermacell Backpacker mosquito repeller last year but left it in the car. I've used the bigger version for car camping but this backpacker version uses backpacking gas canisters. I'm going to give it a try for the next trip.

We used those last year during monsoon season (which lasted months) for our home encampment, daily use. Better than anything else we tried. Started buying pads in mass and picking up the cheaper gas cans just for running the Thermacells. They were the only thing that made being outside possible.

My daughter just bought me one of the Flextail Gear rechargeable tiny mozzie repellant units: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4T3YDDD

Doesn't use fuel to heat the pads with the active ingredient. Instead, it uses a 4800 mAh battery, which can also light an LED lamp or recharge some of your other items. I have only tried it out one afternoon hanging in the back yard, but it was very effective!

I’ve had success using a UQP on my zipped hammock, but when it is super muggy I resent its wind stopping ability. In that case I prefer my HG fronkey style bugnet cinched tightly around my DW cloud 71 gathered end hammock. That combo is as cool as skinny dipping without the penalty of bug bites. I’m also partial to the fronkey because there are no zippers to contend with when “the urge” hits in the middle of the night.
