It's time once again to begin planning our annual ANF summer hang (a.k.a. "MidHHA"). The event will be held July 20-23, 2023 in the middle of the Allegheny National Forest just south of the Minister Creek Campground on PA State Route 666. There are a series of primative campsites in the woods just south of the Minister Creek parking lot. This is essentially car camping, though you will need to transport your gear down a short easy footpath to the camping spot along the creek. If you've got a wagon, bring it. If not, there will likely be several available to borrow. This is a smaller and more laid back group hang with no raffle or organized events, but there are scenic hiking opportunities on the Minister Creek loop and decent fishing spots on the Tionesta Creek just a bit further down the trail. Since we're camping on public land, there are no fees associated with the event--though you're welcome to chip in a few bucks for firewood. An outhouse is available at the paid campground just across the road from the parking lot. Bring a dish to share during meal times if you're so inclined.
Several of us will be arriving on Thursday to stake out the group area, but everyone is welcome to join in as their schedule allows. As always, whether you're a veteran hanger, newbie, ground dwelling heathen, or even if you just want to drop by and check out what hammock camping is all about, ALL ARE WELCOME!
