Post Your Mini-Trips and Short Outings

Use this thread to post your quick trips. Even if it was a hang in your backyard where you were trying something new or testing something.

I'll get us started. This was a quick trip to Jay Cooke State Park in Minnesota this past weekend. We wanted to go check out all the blow down and the St Louis river. Had a great time but we never even ended up hanging our hammocks, to windy and cold to be out long with the kiddo.

A group of about 10 of us went out to the Uwharrie National Forest and camped along Dutchman's Creek. Rained one day but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not entirely certain, to be honest. It was RatMama's setup and I know her hammock was from Autumn Outdoor Gear but not sure if that's where she also got the tarp.

Love seeing those laurel blooms! Nothing like that out in WNC just yet.

Last week I did an overnight in Nantahala outside Hayesville, NC. 28 miles and 7300ft in 2 days

Lows in mid 30s, nice clear sunny days. Tons of trillium, some Dutchman’s breeches, and 2 grouse were the attractions

Had another quick trip at the property this weekend. Low was 30 and the wind was probably 15 mph. My daughter slept in the chameleon and I was in the Superior Gear. What a fantastic night not having to have a tarp, it was absolutely glorious even though there was enough cloud cover to not see a bunch of stars. We even got a quick flurry for 1 minute.

It is amazing what a great UQ, excellent hammocks, and decent top quilt does for comfortability. Now I just have to outfit my daughter's set up and we will be hanging in style.

I hope everyone else got to enjoy this weekend.

A quick spring hang last night to test out my new hammock table. Holds a 16 ounce mug of hot cocoa no problem! Weighs about a pound, not sure if it'll make it on all my trips or not but it was a nice little gadget.

That is so cool! I have wondered whether this kind of thing might be great to have "breakfast from the hammock"!

Had a fun little weekend trip as we continue to try and get the kid exposed to the outdoors. This was a cart in site at Tettegouche state park here in MN, by far the furthest cart in site I'd ever used. Most of the time theyre like a 1-3 minute walk away. This one was close to half a mile! Hauled in a lot of gear. Didnt get any pictures of it, but I thought it'd be to early for mosquitoes so I brought my DreamHammock AirWave Freebird hammock. Well that was a mistake, the bugs are already out and active in northern MN.

Our camp neighbors were some first time hammock campers, using Enos and a ton of blankets. So I got to give them a demo and introduction to other camping hammocks, show them underquilts, tarps, etc. I think they'll end up going down the rabbit hole that is hammock camping now too!

Your little person is adorable! Get her started early and she'll be in her own hammock in no time.
