    First Time Long Time

This is my first time posting a new thread, and long time lurker. I have been lurking for many years and always felt I had nothing of value to add to the discussion. The forums are a little slower so thought I would introduce myself.

I also wanted to thank everyone here for their contributions to the hammock community. I learned almost everything and still learning about hammocks here on the forums. Special shout out to Shug and Derek Hansen. You guys put out great content for the beginner and beyond.

I used a hammock on my very first overnight backpacking trip in Yosemite. The hammock was an Eno singlenest? from REI and I used a blanket from home and a cheap sleeping bag as insulation all packed in a Jansport. Fun times. Later I was using a foam pad and bivy in a hammock. Now almost 13 years later I feel satisfied in my ultralight hammock system. There will always be tweaking, but overall satisfied.

Recently I have been experimenting with the tensa4 and trying out different hammock materials and sizes. Thank you hammockforums. Can't wait to see new innovations here.

Thanks Phantom. You are prolific in the forums. I have been researching posts about length and width of hammocks and you always make an appearance. Thank you for your contributions

Welcome "officially". I kind of miss my old JanSport. That pack and I had some great adventures together. Hope to hear more from you.

Hey CrazyTown3 - I might have one of those JanSports. They had a leather bottom, right? Used to cost $50, like forever. Mine sits forlorn, holding rock climbing gear of yesteryear. But it gets respect from the other packs.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Thanks Crazytown. Yeah I wish I knew what happened to that Jansport. It just kind of vanished. I am planning to be more active in the forums.

Yep, big leather patch on the bottom pocket, external frame with the hip wings. I stored it in my parents storage unit while I was in the Army, and someone broke in and took all the camping equipment. If it hadn't been stolen, I might still be using it today.

    Welcome Halfshark.

Ive got an External Frame Jansport that I still use to this day. I do remember the old style Jansport with the leather bottom. All of us must be of a "certain age".

    Happy Spring all.
