Continuous loop length - cinch buckle suspension

    Hi there,

I’ve been using whoopie slings for a while and wanted to give cinch buckles and straps a try.

I made some 8 inch continuous loops and prussik knotted the loop onto the hammock end of the buckle.

I didn’t account for the cordage used in wrapping around the buckle so when larks heading the continuous loop through gathered end of the hammock it comes out pretty short (around 2 inches from gathered end to buckle).

Might be a stupid question, but is there any issue with using a continuous loop this short or am I overthinking this! TIA.

My opinion is the shorter the better. It keeps the buckles further under the tarp.

I have actually shortened my continuous loops just for that purpose.

Thanks for input, will keep them on, have a trip planned this weekend so will get to try them out.

Using the nawa claws on my tarp ridge line, great bit of kit!

I intentionally make mine short, about 3 inches after cinching through the hammock end. This allows use of closer tree spacing.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.
