Hey there!
New hammocker as of this year, can't wait to get out of the back yard and into the wild! Currently sporting a Hammock Bliss BugFree Sky Bed coupled with a Big Agness Air Core Ultra (72x10) pad which I think is a really winning combination for side sleepers. I also installed a Hammock Gear ridgeline and snagged a cheap but effective EastHills underquilt to up the snuggle factor along with a Featherstone top quilt. I spent the night outside last week when it dipped into the high 30's and was comfortable, but I knew there was one piece missing which arrived today, and that's the OneWind zippered wind sock. I just put it on now and it is everything I hoped, shrugging off the wind like a champ while still letting me regulate temperature (and view) with its 2 windows and the side zipper. I've been doing a lot of hikes in the nearby Blue Hills to get into shape and have done some excursions to set up gear and get some experience working out 'real world' issues without actually overnighting. Also enjoyed a great hike in the Berkshires (Race Brook Falls) recently with my son where I'm hoping to do some overnighting soon. I'm 58 and haven't backpacked since I was a Boy Scout and am really looking forward to some overnighting and maybe a few longer excursions as the season warms up.
Big fan of Shug and others from whom I have already stolen many ideas, so great to be able to learn from others experiences this way before heading out on my own. Also love the positive tone of the forum and hope to be a small part of carrying that on into the future.
Cheers,
-Kent
