    TQ longevity?

hey, so I have a 2018 HG economy burrow that I have slept under every night that I have not used one of my warmer quilts. yeah, I sleep under it at home, too.

I'm noticing that the down isn't super fluffy and there are gaps. washing rejuvenates it somewhat, but not all the way. is this normal for the lifespan of a quilt? is it time to just bite down and replace it?

How you dry it? With the tennis balls in the dryer to help break up the clumps?

Over time supposedly natural oils and grime from your body can supposedly start clumping up your down. One reason why people opt for using liners I believe.

I sleep in PJ's and light-weight socks. Much easier to clean clothes than to clean down. Also, I prefer the feel of "not nylon" next to my skin; like cotton or smart wool.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I guess the real question here is: how many nights can one expect a quality down TQ to typically last (regardless of make and model!) ? A lot of factors come into play. Like sleep clothes, as above. And how and how often is it cleaned? What cleaning products are used? Is the TQ subjected to abnormal compression? Probably a few more factors...

I sleep in long sleeves and pants with socks and a hat.
I launder the quilt not more often than it seems to need by fluffiness or cleanliness.
I use recommended cleaners and procedures.

the question is if this is a normal lifespan for a TQ I've used nearly every night since 2018?

Five years of constant use sounds like a good life span. if the fabric is still in good shape, perhaps just a little refill will work, instead of a whole new quilt.

I have to say I concur with Flask concerning my 40* TQ as well. Ive had mine for abt 4 yrs and Ive washed and dried it properly 3 times now. I really think the down will lose its loft no matter how careful you protect it. So now, it has turned into a 50* by virtue of age and use. Kind of like my ol bod...
