    Hello from Ontario, Canada.

Lurker for a while now, figured I better post.

Still getting into hammocking, but long time enjoyer of a backyard hang. Looking to get off the ground on canoe trips this summer. I've made several DIY gathered end hammocks (thanks to Ripstop by the Roll), have a cheapo amazon netted hammock and tarp setup I've slept in a couple times at home. Looking to upgrade soon. I was fortunate to win a JRB quilt couple years back and have used that on the ground on my recent trips, love it. Still need a UQ.

Anyways, mostly canoe camping - Algonquin Park primarily. May push into some light backpacking.

Eastern Great lakes Group is pretty active in that area ... so you may want to look into that, if group camping appeals to you

    Welcome to the forums Jim,

As Cruiser mentioned, there's a great bunch of hangers who like nothing better than to head out on a backcountry canoe hang. In fact we're currently planning one for early May. If you're interested check out this thread.

I promise that there are only a couple of axe wielding internet weirdos in the group, but they're really quite friendly.

Hope to see you out there.

Awesome, thanks guys. Will check out that thread. I'm a soloist but no doubt would benefit from meeting up at a hang. Out of my shell and off the ground!

    That's the spirit!

Funny thing is that the whole group is comprised of soloists. The only time we come together is when we look out for each other and of course when we have a big pot of soup on the fire.

I did a canoe trip to Pointe Au Baril in the Georgian Bay- there were plenty of hang spots in that area! Not to mention the "fish of 10,000 casts" Esox mosquinongy! Lots of walleye and northerns too.

Welcome neighbor! Paddling season is right around the corner and I'm hoping you can share a few tripping TR's from your solo adventures as we get into the season.

    Cheers,
