    Greetings from Finland

Hi. I've been watching this forum for a long time but this is my first post. I'm Korean living in Finland and have been camping with a hammock for about 3 years. I think it was a brilliant decision to change from the tent to the hammock because both countries are suitable environments for hammock camping.

I've had a few failures, such as choosing a too small hammock or a too big tarp, and tearing the fabric by my mistake. But every time, I was able to get so many tips here, and I'm still getting help. Now I'm doing a few DIYs to match 10' Wookie UQ to 11' Sparrow.
Not long ago, I paid a big money to get an HG Palace for winter camping. I don't think I'll ever be able to use it in the summer of Finland, but I tested it yesterday and it made a very cosy shelter. I used to think the texture of DCF looked a bit silly, but I was so moved the moment I lay on my hammock and looked at the sky reflected on the tarp. It was just so beautiful.

I was a completely urban person who had never camped before 30, and here I am adapting to a new natural environment. Every day is a series of new challenges, and I'm getting a lot of energy from this forum. Thank you, everybody.

Greetings from another new member! Always wanted to visit that part of the world... do you feel like your DCF tarp is loud in the wind? I'm interested in one, but I am a VERY light sleeper

I didn't feel any difference in the noise from the wind after the tarp was pitched completely tight. On the other hand, I think it will be louder if it rains. I also had a lot of concerns about noise before purchasing HG Palace and I solved a lot of them in the next video. https://youtu.be/CXSusuNguVw
If I'm a very light sleeper, I can buy this tarp, but I don't think I'll take it on a rainy day. But it's totally fine on windy days.

Prepping in case of another Ruzzian winter invasion? Okay, not funny. Welcome to HF and the wealth of lessons learned by the school of experience and hard knocks.

    Greetings from a native Finn!

Finland is a great place for multi-day hiking, and hammocking changed my life in that respect, as well. Living in a land of a thousand lakes means getting water is almost never a problem (well, actually Finland has over 57 000 lakes larger than 1 hectare, thanks to the ice age!)
