    Haven XL sticky zipper

Just picked up a new to me Haven XL. The zipper is so tight, I'm afraid I'm going to rip the thing. In fact, yesterday, I separated the zipper on accident trying to zip it up. I understand this is an issue, but there's gotta be a solution. Anyone got one? I emailed Haven, but I don't expect them to do much since I purchased used.

    Thanks

Perhaps a solution is to try zipper lube or beeswax on the zipper. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Star-Brit...7&gclsrc=3p.ds

Thanks Shug. I guess sticky was the wrong choice of words. More that the bugnet is so tight, it doesn't close. Seems like either A) a design flaw, or B) a new user messing something up. Guessing its somewhere in between the 2

Maybe you could reach up to the ridge line with one hand and pull up creating some slack and zip with the free hand. Hopefully the net will stretch out a bit with use?

Is that with you in the Haven or zipping the empty Haven?
Maybe take the bugnet off and reverse it. Can't hurt to try.....

@Jimswms, I too just acquired a new to me (but new in "box") Haven with the same issue/concern. First off, I met Derrick at this years Hangcon and believe he will help you once you connect. I found him to be a straight up guy. What works for me is to start the zipper before fully laying down then shift my weight away from the side I'm closing. Seems to work well for me. I also am experimenting with the air mat volume and ridge line tension to see if that changes the "zip-ability". Have you tried the zipper in bivy mode? (I think this should remove most tension). I haven't tried yet but that may answer/address both our issues.
Not sure I'm of any help so good luck to you.

Tried reversing the bug net. It's a little better, but not much. Sadly, I'm used to hammocks from our stellar cottage guys that are flawless. Hopefully, I'll hear from Haven tomorrow and see if they have any solutions. It sure is comfortable, but if I can't zip it up, that makes it unusable

Seems crazy that there are problems like this. Not sure how it makes it past the design phase. Not talking smack, just surprised is all. I still hold out that I might be doing something wrong in the hang, but this thing is so dead simple, I doubt it!

Might be "last" minute changes, but probably just an oversight. Zippers aren't the first thing that manufacturers look at when quality testing I guess.

I guess I feel lucky that my regular Haven does not have this issue. Wish I could offer some advice to help but I just do my thing and it works.....
