I am planning to scout the campsite, trail, and water conditions this Saturday with Phantom. Will report back here on what we find. My current plan is still to camp at Poison Fork Creek on Friday and Little Long Mtn on Saturday unless there’s not enough good hanging trees and water near the top. If that’s the case than I’ll probably keep camp set-up at Poison Fork. Weather report still calling for scattered showers but warmer (mid 60s Fri/high 50s Sat). Overnight lows looking relatively tame.
One of my plans is I want to go towards the 2nd peak of dark mtn south on the trail.if I make it I make it if not there’s always another trip

Here’s the parking lot gps coordinates for google maps or your app of choice:
35.47991 -79.95152
you have to walk the shoulder of Flint Hill Rd briefly going west over Barnes Creek in order to pick up the Uwharrie Trail going northbound. I’ll try to update this thread with gps for the roadside campsites and Poison Creek after hiking it tomorrow.
The southbound Uwharrie trailhead going towards Dark Mountain is right behind the backcountry info board at the parking area.
Is this February 3-5 or 10-12? Kinda interested and wondering about weather
