From Jumping Off Rock Trailhead, I have backpacked north on Uwharrie Trail with TomTom, some time ago.
First night, we camped along side Poison Fork Creek. Good water at creek for coffee. At least 4 or more sites for hammocks.
Next morning we backpacked north on Uwharrie Trail to top of Little Long Mountain at three sided trail shelter. We camped there. There are trees for three hammocks at top. More trees are available a short hike either north or south along trail.
Water source at the top, is questionable, there is a spur trail off of Uwharrie Trail north, that has a spring.

On another trip, me and Twistytee, backpacked from Jumping Off Rock Trailhead going south on Uwharrie Trail. After about an hour we camped by a small stream. Stream was shallow, but it was great for coffee.

Jumping off rock camp out uwarries nc ether 3-5 or 10-12

PappyAmos, it’s not car camping. About an hour or two backpacking with some Uwharrie-sized mountains.
You can probably camp near Trailhead. Barnes Creek is right there at Trailhead. That would be car camping—maybe backpack one or two hundred yards. I’ve not camped there and did not look for a campsite at Trailhead, but there probably is a fire ring or two nearby. Ask TomTom!

I’d say about an hour to camp at Poison Fork Creek. Some hills
And about another hour to top of Little Long Mountain

Going south had some elevation climb and rock terrain near the start of the trail when leaving the parking area. If I recall it was about a 3 mile hike to where Phantom and I camped at the creek. We took it slow with plenty of breaks and swapped stories about bear encounters and the Carlsen-Niemann controversy.

It sounded like Tom-Tom was planning a short hike north to Poison Fork Creek. I don’t think that’s a strenuous part of the trail, but Phantom and Tom-Tom have more recent experience than me in that direction.

if I can make it Friday it will be late afternoon as I have to work in the morning.

As of today they’re calling for rain that weekend with temps in the mid 50s and high 30s overnight. Report says 60% light rain. Still a ways out so weather report may look different a week from now.

Call me, if you’d like to know a shortcut to intersection of Poison Fork Creek and Uwharrie Trail.
Also I might know where campsite is located near Jumping Off Creek Trailhead—not sure, will check in a few days or so.

Last time I was there I saw a fire ring just in from the parking area. I must say, wouldn't be my first choice for a place to car camp.

Looks like the short hike to Poison Fork is worth the effort since Phantom reports hang sites and both sides of the creek. Would be nice to get a campfire going. I plan to hike up to Little Long Mtn to check it out on Sat.
