Found a new to me ridge line lantern light option.

I don't recall seeing these here, but I stumbled upon them at a hardware store this afternoon.

My pen light that I have hanging from my ridge line is too bright, I just want enough light to see that I'm trying to climb into my quilt that's flipped end for end.
I also wanted something that had one brightness level, and no strobe option.
This is that, the only thing I would've preferred is pushbutton on instead of twisty switch.
It's light weight, but I know there are lighter options, but I'm getting to that age that I'm becoming less inclined to carry anything on my back. But gram weenies will still scoff at it.

I haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life, but it will only ever be on for a minute or two the way I use it, so I'm assuming it'll be fine.
I paid $4.79 for it, so not an expensive test run.

Available in White, Red, Blue, or Green

I just realized I posted in the wrong subforum, looking for delete option right now.

I use a small LED keychain light. I hang it from an elastic hair tie prusik knotted to my SRL, which also serves as sort of a line lock for when I shove my gear sling back out of the way. It's always easy to find and you can use a couple different batteries. The dual set up burns brighter, and the single battery runs dimmer but has a longer life. It has both pressure and slider on and off functions.

Very conservative price points. Tiny weight penalty.

I bought a handful of small key fob size red push-hold red lights on Amazon. But I wouldn't do it again. As with Justin P, I might just need to look around and manage something but I'd want two hands to do it. The push-hold lets me see where things are, but I have to let go - lights out - to use both hands. A push on, push off, or slide switch is worth the extra cost. Or, I could just hang my headlamp on the ridgeline and use it.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

This works well for me. White or red light, flashlight (so-so) or lantern.

I only looked at the key chain ones locally, and they all had momentary switches that you had to hold to keep on.
But I don't have many shopping options, so I didn't have much to choose from either.

Here is another photo just to give a better size perspective.

Most have the slide lock on one side as well as pressure activation. I didn't find the slider switch on mine until changing the battery.

Rolloff - that looks like about the price I paid. I'll look a little closer for a slide lock. Thank you for the tip!

Someone needs to invent a hands-free system to turn my ridgeline light on... Hmmm maybe something like this...

As long as aggressive snoring doesn't trigger it.
