    Detachable Structural Ridgeline

My current setup includes a fixed adjustable ridgeline and whoopie slings. My biggest complaint is that it requires me to "permanently" attach my bugnet and there are just times where I want to take the ridgeline out completely (indoor hangs etc). What is the best way to do it? Can I get away with putting some prusik loops and use some small s-hooks to connect the ridgeline? I'm not super concerned about weight, I mostly go car and motorcycle camping so space conservation is a bigger concern than weight really. Anyone have a link to a plan for anything close to this?

    > a fixed adjustable ridgeline ...

"fixed adjustable"? The issue is, is it "structural" or not? Structural means, you are using it to keep the same hammock sag even if your suspension is at a shallower angle than "natural". In that case, the ridgeline itself takes some of the force. But if you will hang at an angle that gives you the sag you want - without the ridgeline - then you are just using the ridgeline as a long yardstick to tell you when you are "just about right". You can still use it for organizers to hold headlamps, cell phones, etc.

The difference is, if it is not structural, you can just clip it to the hammock ends with a mini-biner or small S-binger. But if it is structural, if part of your suspension load will be taken by the ridgeline, then you want it connected directly to the ridgeline. A simple loop on each end with the hammock continuous loop passing through it would work. Or garth hitching to that hammock continuous ridgeline works too. You can still take it off when not needed.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I added a removable SRL to a Brazilian hammock that I have so that I could control the sag and be able to put a fronkey bugnet on it.
I just started by larks heading two of my dogbones together, a 3' & a 6', and then attached them w/ a soft shackle to the hammock suspension where it meets the hammock.
Going around the strap twice keeps them from sliding down onto the hammock.
I'll eventually make one dogbone the exact length I want, and a few more shackles, and put the ones I'm using back into my "available dogbones" kit.

Sure. You can just untie it and take it off or off one end with some ridgeline methods.
Go to 3:58 in the video to see the attachment method.

What hammock is it? Most I've seen the Ridgeline doesn't stop you from removing the bug net. The net usually zips on top of the net.
