    Extra wide tarps

    Hey Folks,
I'm considering a huge winter tarp, possibly a 12 ft. Winter Haven from SLD in silpoly xl. I've read pros and cons for both longer and wider tarps but nothing that fits my specific situation. My goal is to fully stand while having side panels as close to the ground as possible. I am 6'1 and my back is jacked so hunching over under the tarp is no bueno. I currently have a superfly that is a tad too small to stand during a torrential downpour with side winds, as I noticed the other night. I already have a dcf tarp with doors for light backpacking (and a asym tarp), so this is my short trip winter tarp without weight concerns. Am I on the right track? Am I missing something? Suggestions? Thanks!!

Thanks. Is it xenon wide or silpoly xl? Also, how do the snaps work? Just to seal it up or to keep them pulled back when not in use? Thanks!!

the snaps work great I really like it and it's silpoly plus I got pole mods to that really helped the tarp or some times I just use the tie outside pretty much got all the special mods done to that trap

Thanks, that's exactly what I may do to cover all situations. Any idea how much it weighs. That won't be my deciding factor but curious. Thanks again.

Dutchware's new bonded tarps allow for three panels of material i believe.

    Specifications:
    Ridgeline Length: 132-inches (11-foot tarp) or 144-inches (12-foot tarp)
    Width: 11 1/2- feet

Would be nice if they made that in the ultralight version.
Some days I can't tell whether I found a rope or lost a horse...
