I bring a 5 gal. Igloo cooler so water doesn't freeze, but I recall hearing that water is available at park HQ.

I also bring a 5- gallon insulated jug filled at home. In past hangs I've been able to fill it at the ranger station in the housekeeping closet as well. There is a stream about 1/2- mile walk from the campsite; that might be easier for some.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

Yes, water is available at the Ranger Station, which is on the left as you drive in.
Or you can bring water with you.

And if you aren't familiar with what they are saying about the coolers, the insulated coolers are used to keep water jugs from freezing if it's really cold.
Most people leave the cooler in their car/ truck.

Hickery says he's never had water in his cooler freeze solid but after a few cold days, it started to turn slushy.
An extra step is to put a hot water bottle in the cooler with your drinking/ cooking water.

Also, I think there is usually at least one large pot of water by the fire for anyone that needs it.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Some bring insulated coolers with 1- and 2-gallon jugs of water inside.

14-day forecast doesn’t cover that weekend yet, but it’s showing high of 45 and low of 24 for Monday 1/16. A lot can change in 2 weeks so still a guessing game.

This was my first group hang years ago...well, the warmer version. Since then I've attended many Dutch hangs on PA.

As long as my car doesn't get stuck in snow in my yard again I am planning on coming up. Looking forward to a nice weekend in the piney woods cradled in comfort.

Signed up. Need to winter test my gear ahead of time but I just picked up a 20° UQ to go with my 30° TQ.

I think I'll also be bringing my day pack so I can try to summit Mt Rogers for a SOTA activation.

I'm not sure what is under represented compared to the typical potluck at a HF Hang. Please drop suggestions here.

Looking forward to looking at some rigs for some inspiration.
