Used on one cold snowy night, and set up once in the yard, this work of Dutch's art can be yours for 60 bucks, shipped in the continental USA.
This is a 10 foot long sock as per Dutchware's site, but with no zipper and in .67 dark olive argon (a custom job!). It is lovely, just not a sock guy, it turns out. Intensive scholarly study suggests this sock would work with a much longer base hammock--it is almost two feet longer than it needs to be, strictly speaking, for a 10 foot hammock and would therefore work on an 11 foot gathered-end hammock or possibly even a 12-foot gathered end hammock (as the hangle makes 'em dangle so the hammock length is...something something strength?).
I didn't find the extra length a problem during my night's hang in a 10-foot gathered end hammock: works fine that way. I think the vent reflects that good old Dutch Genius. A quick twitch of the fabric positions the vent as needed and in response to conditions pertaining over the ground. 60 bucks is a nice discount for this as-new sock, with light mesh bag, at 7.4 oz or so, compared to new from Dutchwaregear at 80+ bucks, shipped.
In the image included here, the sock is shown stretched out its full length in a way that would not work in practice, just to show it off. In regular practice the "narrow" end on the left would be slightly closer to center, while the "wide" end on the right would be about two feet closer to the center, with the cinch-toggle within arm's reach from within the hammock. The "vent" can be seen on the right side.
