    Hawk-eye has passed...

This morning, Hawk-eye passed. I do not know any details. There is a thread at LinvilleGorge.net where Ken will post more information.

Hawk-eye was a great friend. He and three or four others started the Gorge Rats, which originally was a trail maintenance group. It became an active group of hammock hanging hikers who explored and mapped the Gorge. They also got to know many locals folks and recorded much of the history of Linville Gorge.

Prayers up for Michael. He will be missed.

With death comes sadness, mourning, and missing friends and loved ones.
And a celebration of their life and all the good memories they have given us. With time there will be a flood of memories to wash away the tears.

He was a valued presence, here on HF and in the Gorge. RIP, Hawkeye.

I will forever have the fondest of memories of Hawk-Eye.
Every time I go to the Gorge I expect to see him....maybe I still will.
He used to bring me cigars.
Met me in High Point once when I was doing a show at High Point University and took me out for BBQ.
Was aware of his health struggles in the past few years. He would always text me on St. Paddy's Day.
Last time I saw Hawk-eye was in 2013 when Hickery and myself were doing the Grand Loop. Ken and Hawk-eye stopped to visit us.
Whenever I see Strawberry Rhubarb pie I immediately see Hawk-Eye.
Have a Peaceful and smooth hike to the Bright Side Hawk-Eye~~~
    You will never be forgotten.

    Sad news for sure.

Remembering all of the good times we had , places we camped, sunrises and sunsets.

He will be missed by many.

Praying for his family, friends, and all who knew him.
