    I have the Claytor diamond fly that came with my hammock. I don't particularly care for it. No real reason, I just like my MacCat & Superfly better.

    Yeah, your right on the cat cuts not being necessary, but.....like you said I will do a very gentle cut just to see what difference, if any, it will have.
    The SG diamond tarps have a psuedo cat cut. This is done by changing the angle where the bottom triangle is attached. This allows a taut pitch.

    diamond Tarp

    I have used my 8x10 golite tarp on the diamond in some pretty nasty wet weather and was well protected. I really really like the fact that you just have two tie downs instead of four. Ok, I'm lazy!
