I don't know the HG hammocks very well so I'm guessing, some are for pullouts, some for attaching accessories (probably?).
I’ll make an assumption.
It’s inside out? In most hammocks the clips would be on the outside for securing the underquilt.
It may be a blemish/oops from the company?

ok, thanks all. I guess I was wondering how the inside D rings would be used to attach UQ's, winter top cover, et al, if I chose to leave the bug screen deployed. Reason being my TQ wont slip partially out of the hammock in the middle of the night since Im a very restless sleeper. I did order the Winter top cover. Will see how that works
I attach my aluft pillow to the top pair of internal rings with shock cord and little cord locks. Adjustable, doesn't fall behind my back, fits into the double ended stuff sack and makes one less thing to forget to bring.
I don't suppose someone could measure and tell me how far from the peak the first set of internal D rings? I picked up one of their mesh peak shelves that I plan on adding to a DW Half-Wit and need to know where to install the attachment points inside it.
I haven't used the internal rings but I've used the external ones to attach shock cord w/ mitten hooks. At first I used one set to create a footbox but I didn't really need it. So now I use both sets of shock cord on the head end since I switch back & forth between head-left/head-right. Mostly to keep the bugnet out of my face and to make it easier to climb into the hammock.
I also used a mitten hook to attach the D-Ring on the underquilt to the external D-Ring on the hammock to prevent shifting.
