options for a day lounge hammock on hikes.

Been a while, because my Dream Hammock Darien and SLD sidewinder are working perfect

Anyhow, My son lives in CO and does some sun up to sun down hikes/hunts,, They typ nap mid day.
He has asked for a netless lounge hammock, and made mention of my ENO double nest.

    He is 6'-5" and 230#
I am looking for a larger day hammock with adjustable cinch buckle/strap suspension
    What are my options?

    Thanks.

A more comfortable hammock, could be longer.
    Possibly 12x6
Hard to nap if too cold or if it’s raining. Under quilt, top quilt, and tarp are needed. But cost, weight, and pack volume will influence his choices.

Having done a lot of said mid-day naps in CO myself, I'd recommend something like the Dutchware Gear 12'er, which is currently on sale on their web site for $43.20. https://dutchwaregear.com/product/the-12-footer/

Especially with the straps/beetle buckle suspension, it's super easy to pitch and chill on while you're at that alpine lake below a 13'er.

You are lucky that DutchWare is just starting their sale at 20% off for a 12 ft hammock. But remember the tarp. If you are going to do a day hike and afternoon naps, you may find yourself looking up at the sun or worrying about that bird overhead. Because I mostly adventure in mild weather, my tarps are more often used as sun shields rather than rain shields.

Apparently my son is only 6'-3"
Dutch recommended the WIDE 11' netless
Whats your thoughts on the 12' vs WIDE 11' ??
Any downside to getting the 12',, it looks like it is the same width at 68"
The Wide 11' is "HEXON 1.6",, The 12' is "Nylon D" ,,, Both rated at 350#

The 12' with a ridgeline and the included notty mod is $51
The Wide 11' with the dual knotty mod and ridge line will be $89

Is there such thing as TOO Long ??

I think 11' and 12' are both reasonable lengths, although I am betting a 6'3" person would enjoy the 12'. The downside - as I see it - is that a tarp might need to be longer to cover it. If it's a lounging hammock, no big deal.

the dutchware seems like a win. at $43 plus beetle buckles for another 40, you’ve got a big hammock and killer relatively light suspension. i wish i’d started out knowing about these vendors.

at 6’4” 230-240, a 12’ is glorious, but i’m perfectly fine lounging for several hours on something shorter. i’ve actually slept well in a 9.5 foot cheapo. I am currently making my own 12’ and going for 68” width.
